Meet Ezra Bruno: The Alt R&B Producer-Songwriter Questioning Modern Masculinity
His new single Time Away was released November 27th.
Get ready for Ezra Bruno to become the newest artist on your playlist.
A singer, producer, and songwriter from North London, Ezra is already making serious waves with his music. His 2019 release Demerara saw him perform at Funk and Soul Weekender, sharing the stage with Joel Culpepper, Children of Zeus, and Kamasi Washington.
Now, he’s back with his new single Time Away, a soulful and impassioned blend of electronic and mellow cadences. The single had been played exclusively on BBC Introducing and Soho Radio ahead of its release on November 27th.
“Time Away is the first of a series of lockdown music I have planned to release,” Ezra revealed. “Lockdown has allowed a lot of time for reflection and development.”
A well-seasoned producer, Time Away reflects Ezra’s ability to weave complicated feelings into song.
Ezra admits, “The main themes explore my poor judgment in a toxic relationship and questioning modern masculinity. One of the main subjects that I have tried to express is the importance of men communicating honestly and openly to contribute towards the toxic constructs we have created in the modern world.”
Todays culture encourages us to open up more than ever. And with middle-aged men in one of the highest risk groups for mental health issues, hearing a male artist perform evocatively and sincerely about his feelings is refreshing and genuinely helpful.
Gritty and authentic, the multifaceted sound of Time Away is a true testament to Ezra’s ingenuity as an artist, a producer, and an individual.
