Dua Lipa Walks for Versace’s SS22 Collection
The British-Albanian pop songstress adds modelling to her resumé following a surprise appearance at Milan Fashion Week.
Pop star Dua Lipa has made her modelling debut this week at Milan Fashion Week, featured in Versace’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection.
The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker opened the show in a two-piece blazer and dress held together with colorful safety pins - a fun take on a signature Versace emblem. Tying the look together were chunky black platforms with a curvature shape and eye-catching gold band rings.
Lipa also donned a pink metal mesh two piece in the show, along with strap heels. Joined alongside her were modelling royalties Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk and Gigi Hadid. Fellow newcomer Lourdes Leon, daughter of pop icon Madonna, who recently appeared at the Met Gala also featured and will star in Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty intimates show.
Although this was Lipa’s first time walking in the show, she’s been featured by Versace in previous advertising campaigns and shoots. She’s been cited as a muse for the brand and it’s clear they were paying tribute to her by scoring the colorful runway with her pop hits.
This year Versace took inspiration from their signature ‘foulard’ or scarves for the collection, seen worn by many of the models during the show.
“The foulard is a fundamental component of Versace’s heritage and history,” says creative director Donatella Versace. “It’s acted as a canvas for our iconic prints and is worn in multiple ways from knotted tops to headscarves to bag accessories - it’s a way of adding Versace attitude to any look. The foulard has been with us since the very beginning, but this season turns everything on its head, it is no longer fluid or dreamy, the scarf is provocative, sexy wound tight.”
