Dr. Martens x Rick Owens Bondage Bex Boot
All tied up.
Dr. Martens and Rick Owens, both individual grunge icons of the 90s, have united to create a reimagining of the 1460 Bex Boot.
The collab uses lacing to transform the classic DM boot into an erotic fetish grunge fantasy. Black Smooth leather, dual-branded sock liners and taupe heel loops complete the boot and the Bex sole is double height to give your bondaged feet some elevation. The classic DM yellow stitching trims the sole of the boot, but to mark the pair’s collaboration, there is taupe stitching above it.
The specification details that inspiration was taken from “Owens’ enthusiasm for dark-glam drapery and polished grunge” and the bondage-themed footwear is reflective of just that. Over the last year, Instagram has seen a rise in fetish-fashion-ropes in mainstream lewkbooks. Artists and designers such as Michaela Stark use ropes, ties and general constriction to accentuate body parts we are otherwise conditioned to hide, as a mark of solidarity against the mainstream. The rise of the grunge aesthetic in 2k21 transcends the DM boot and carries over into our millennial makeup.
In our current, pandemic, socio-political world, generations are craving rebellion, and bondage-Dr. Martens have become the answer to our inner mutinous, defiant, selves.
The boots are being released in two parts through March and May. The first drop is sold out on the site and was retailing at $410 but is on resale on FarFetch for $1183.
