Come Peep Nike’s Trash (Literally) Space Hippie Sneaker

Sustainability, we see you.

POSTED BY TENAI PALOMINO

Nike is out here doing planet Earth proud with their latest offering. The new four-sneaker capsule is mostly constructed out of a transformed factory and post-consumer waste, with the first installment, Space Hippie 01, made out of at least 50% recycled material.

This first pair of kicks are largely made from Nike’s “Space Waste Yarn”, a mega sustainable material that is made from 90% recycled polyester from recycled plastic bottles, T-shirts, and scraps of yarn collected from Nike’s cutting room floors.

The rest of the capsule, Space Hippie 02, 03 and 04, combines the Nike Grind, which is created out of materials made from manufacturing scraps and recycled athletic footwear, and scrapped foams to create that moon-bouncy aesthetic.

The capsule will drop on June 11 on Nike.com and retails from $130-$180. Be ready.
