Chucks Away With Converse x Feng Chen Wang
The Collab We Never Knew We Needed
Paying homage to the freedom of conceptual-confidence and provoking emotional responses is as easy as grabbing a coffee from Starbucks for Chinese born, London based designer Feng Chen Wang.
Pairing up with Converse, Wang is bringing a new lease of life to the Jack Purcell sneaker. A favourite within the world of sneakers, known primarily for its’ toe cap smile, the collab explores new dimensions; paying tribute to past forms leads the way to visions for the future.
A personal touch, using characters from her Mandarin name has enabled Wang to form systematic layering and a significant emphasis on the sneakers upper. Muted dimensions, created through the combination of leather and suede is a touching tribute to the dual heritage of both Shanghai and London.
Structure and reflectivity correlated with an admirable focus on materials makes for a subtle, yet effective statement. Available in complementary colour palettes, these have been designed with mix and match styling in mind. For the more daring wanting to make a statement on the streets, the collection also presents a cap, and convertible cross-body bag. Count us in.
The Converse x Feng Chen Wang Jack Purcell mid and apparel is released August 6.
