CHILD + THE BANNED: Music For Fallen Fairies

Their single 'Dominion' is a tale of female sexuality, juicy Genesis and ... sofa pillows.

Let’s talk about sex? More like, let’s talk about sexual power, baby. At least, that’s what CHILD, London’s favorite indie girl—ethereal yet audacious—recommends in her newest single, ‘Dominion.’ This track tells a tale of opposing sexual forces within one body, yearning for submission on the one hand and striving for dominance on the other, stirring the soul of every fallen fairy girl.

CHILD, a visionary singer, songwriter, and producer, has already had an incredible year. She performed at a viral Milan Fashion Week show with couturier Michaela Stark, showcasing her unique understanding of the body's complexity through her bright signature voice and extraordinary sensitivity. Together with her band, they played at London’s iconic Lexington as the unforgettable CHILD + THE BANNED, consisting of multi-instrumentalists and, more importantly, enchanting personalities. Meanwhile, ‘Dominion’ had its radio premiere on KEXP in Seattle.

CHILD shows no signs of slowing down. With the support of Isabel Gracefield, one of London’s top engineers who has worked with the likes of Fraser T Smith, Dua Lipa, and Adele, she weaves a story of desire, darkness, and dreams. The powerful female duo made a pact to avoid virtual software instruments in their productions. As a result, ‘Dominion’ is built on a beat created using sofa pillows, beatboxing, and mouth clicks. Steamy.

The release is accompanied by a music video that perfectly encapsulates the playful, confusingly spicy, and overwhelmingly relatable message of ‘Dominion.’ The camera shifts between abrupt black and white close-ups of CHILD’s lips and lashes, and hazy shots of her musing in ecstasy. Clad in a bra reminiscent of armor, she leaves her audience wondering, is she a lover or a fighter?

‘Dominion’ by CHILD + THE BANNED is about becoming everything in between. Stream, sing, strip down now.
