Cannes Film Fest Comes To An End And Has Served More Looks Than Ever Before
Princess vibes and iconic tributes.
Cannes Film Festival 2019 has come to a close. While film’s such as ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ by Quentin Tarantino and ‘Parasite’ by Bong Joon-ho stole the show, eyes were on the red carpet at this year served more looks than ever before. Elle Fanning led the fashion pack with angelic retro vibes unparalleled by any other celebrity. As the celebrations continued, we saw iconic looks from the likes of Winnie Harlow and Deepika Padukone and princess vibes from Jasmine Tooks and Michelle Rodriguez with a notable tribute to the late Sharon Tate from Margot Robbie. Take a look at our favorite looks from this year's festival below.
Elle Fanning
The Cannes queen herself, Elle Fanning, channeled retro vibes in keeping with her delicate personal style. Bringing a character to each outfit like a true actress, Fanning stunned in Dior blouse and skirt. Channeling old-Hollywood glamour, the actress brought the drama to the red carpet with the oversized sheer white blouse and black tulle skirt. Fanning went for classic sleek hair under a large black straw hat, it's going big or go home this year.
The closing ceremony saw Fanning look ethereal once again in a Reem Acra Fall 2019 Bridal dress fit for a princess. With her hair in a sleek bun and perfectly natural makeup, all eyes were on the gown, adorned with crystals and topped off with a sheer cape. All brides-to-be can look to Fanning for dress inspiration as she takes bridal wear to the red carpet perfectly this year.
Winnie Harlow
Winnie Harlow brought a dark drama to the red carpet with her gowns this year, starting the event in a custom Richard Queen floor length dress. The Bardot style dress, detailed with a hibiscus and palm print, accentuated Harlow’s figure perfectly and added a splash of drama due to the black heavy tulle skirt. A look that contrasts with the girly princess vibes seen on many this year but nonetheless one of our faves.
Jasmine Tooks
Now to the princess vibes. Model Jasmine Tooks wore a periwinkle blue plunge gown by Zuhair Murad, reminiscent of Frozen’s ice-queen Elsa. The sequined dress was matched with statement rings but kept minimal with a natural tousled updo. Glowing natural makeup, revealed to be done by Tooks herself, was in keeping with the natural vibes worn by many at this year's event and allowed her dress to shine.
Michelle Rodriguez
Michelle Rodriguez was another to hop on the princess bandwagon, looking a dream at the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood screening. The actress hopped on the bridal trend in a Rami Kadi bridal gown, the Bardot neckline made delicate with fluffy embellishment. Simple hair and makeup is the key this year, to allow the attention to remain on the gorgeous dresses, Rodriguez’s ballgown skirt brought all the elegance to Cannes 2019.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone’s quirky look stood out from the bridal wear seen on the red carpet as she glowed in a ruffled lime green Giambattista Valli gown. ‘Living a Lime Green Life’ says Padukone on Instagram and she certainly did bring the life and vibrancy to this year's event. Pairing the gown with a baby pink headband and large matching bow, Padukone’s look is a lesson in color and for that, she is one of our favorites.
Margot Robbie
Finally, Margot Robbie paid tribute to the late actress Sharon Tate, in both her film and with her hair and makeup on the red carpet. Robbie portrays Tate in Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood but did not stop there in being an advocate for her. With two small braids on each side of her head and natural loose hair, Robbie twinned Tate’s iconic beauty look with similar eye-accentuating makeup. Being able to pull off an iconic look so well as this makes Robbie a definite favorite for us.
Now that Cannes and The Met are over, we will have to look forward to next years events, where no doubt these stunning celebs will be slaying again on the red carpet.
