Burberry Spring/Summer ‘21 Collection

Take a dive into this new Burberry collection—inspired by the sea

POSTED BY LEE GIFFEN

When you think of Burberry, do their signature plaid prints come to mind? Burberry is one of the oldest British fashion brands and have been providing their classic designs for decades. One of Burberry’s most iconic looks created and sold is, of course, their plaid trench coat.
With this being said, the spring/summer 2021 collection surprised everyone with a twist from their traditional designs, with a collection inspired by the beauty of the sea.

Ricardo Tisci reveals this collection was brought to life during his few months in lockdown. Even though Tisci was able to spend quarantine with his mother, he reflects, and calls the time period of lockdown lonely. The feelings of loneliness can be found as a muse, in this ocean life inspired collection. Quarantine inspired a large burst of creativity from Tisci, and the spring/summer ‘21 collection came into existence.

“Blue is the new beige,” Tisci jokes, as the collection features mostly blue—astray from Burberry’s beloved beige classic.
Trench coats are still present in this collection, in shades of warm royal blue—with a colorless technical design, as well as, a Mermaid Tail Print Cotton Sleeveless Trench Coat in the shade Ink Navy. A head to toe, blue denim and sweater combination, paired with fierce thigh high booties—blue of course, is another exquisitely unique piece in this collection.

As we know, the ocean isn’t just blue, it holds life to many colors, as does this collection. Embellished silver dresses, sleek black leather looks and even a few orange blazers join the color palate for Burberry spring/summer ‘21.
