Prices for the range reach up to $2,000 USD, and the internet is not happy about it.
The luxury Fashion house, Bottega Veneta’s latest pieces have fallen victim to online ridicule. The recently released range includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings coming in ‘Grass’, ‘Lavender’ or ‘Bianco’ colours.
Each of the items sport an enamel-coated sterling silver construct, finishing off with a hook to fasten the unconventional pieces. The brand says the jewellery ‘mimics the sculptural character of traditional Venetian glasswork, specifically the island of Murano’s world-renowned chandeliers’, but it looks much more like a nod to our old landline phone cord.
Infamous fashion account Diet Prada said not today Bottega ... not today, the page took to Instagram to slam the latest range. Posting a side-by-side comparison of the $2,000 necklace and $5 eBay pastel coloured phone cords. The caption reads “Bottega is the new Vetements”. Hundreds of dieters agreed with the account commenting on the pricey piece’s. One account wrote “who knew I could sell my own landline chords for $2G’s’ with another adding “Who the hell is gonna buy this, Gen Z'ers who have never experienced a landline?”.
