Level Up With Balenciaga's New Collection
The French brand will release their new collection via a game
Balenciaga’s Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia is merging technology and fashion to a whole other level - literally.
The luxury French brand will be debuting their new FW21 collection via a video game set in the year 2031.
Featuring Demna’s new designs the collection’s theme centres around human destiny, titled “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow”.
Debuting on December 6, “the largest volumetric video project ever undertaken”, states Balenciaga, will allow you to experience their virtual world as it moves from a state of decay towards a balance between nature and industry.
Sharing with WWD, the house said “A hero avatar advances throughout distinct zones, motivated by tasks and interactions. The narrative of ‘Afterworld’ is anchored to mythological pasts and projected futures with timeless archetypes and speculative imagery”.
This isn’t the first time Balenciaga has been technologically inventive with showcasing their collection virtually during the pandemic.
The creative director debuted his SS21 collection via music video in October. Models sported elevated slippers, bathrobes and pyjamas, as they sang along to a remake of Corey Hart’s ‘80s banger “Sunglasses At Night”.
