After the launch of Baby Phat in 1999, founder Kimora Lee Simmons announced the brand’s latest venture in collaboration with her daughters Ming and Aoki Lee, Baby Phat Beauty. We’ve been waiting for this one.
In collaboration with Los Angeles based beauty company HatchBeauty Brands, Baby Phat Beauty’s first offering is a three-piece Shimmer Dreams gift set, featuring a plumping lip gloss, an illuminating body spray, and a hydrating body lotion. Packaged in a glittering pink travel pouch boasting the iconic Baby Phat cat logo, the set is available in three scent combos: Ethereal (with notes of red berries, green apple, and amber), Divine (with jasmine, black currant, and vanilla scent) and finally, Opulence (flaunting midnight orchid, peach and caramel tones).
Discussing the brand’s legacy, Simmons stated, “When I launched Baby Phat in 1999, I had to fight for a seat at the table in both the high-fashion and streetwear worlds. I did that by staying true to myself and bringing up an entire generation who embraced diversity, body positivity, and body confidence all while being unapologetically glam and sexy.” She also discussed the importance to be a woman, specifically a woman of color, with her own brand, emphasizing the significance of this for her two daughters.
