ASICSTIGER Teams Up With Artist Ya Nagaba For GELSAGATM
"It is about the love of a boy has for his girlfriend."
In the latest cooperation with the artist Ya Nagaba, ASICS presents the GELSAGATM together with three associated garments. All parts will be presented in time for the 1-year anniversary of ASICSTIGER Shibuya Store and will be available globally from 23 March 2019.
The illustrations showed reflect photographs of the girlfriend held by her partner in the streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku. Nagaba was born in Tokyo in 1976 and successfully graduated from Tokyo University. He primarily provided designs for various clothing companies. Nagaba is active in fields such as advertising, book cover design and illustration or packaging design. In simple even illustrations depicting human characteristics, Nagaba posts another picture every day on Instagram.
The shoe model is based on the original form of the ASICS running shoe GELSAGATM from 1991. The upper is made of birch-colored leather. On the sole, the heel and inside the shoe, the illustrations of Yu Nagaba can be found again. Shibuya and Tokyo are printed on the needles of shoelaces in the artist's handwriting. The shoe design is simple but full of details such as reflective logo and illustrations.
The associated clothing line consists of three white cotton shirts adorned with unique illustrations of the girl. The embroidered cap with easily adjustable closure complete the T-shirts with the same embroidery and the handwritten ASICSTIGER logo Nagaba's on the underside of the cap screen.
The shoes are available from selected retailers for a price of $140.
