Anya Taylor-Joy Wears a Tarot-Themed Dress to the Fall 2022 Dior Show
The Queen’s Gambit star stunned in the vintage style that we have come to associate with her character Beth Harmon.
Dior ambassador Anya Taylor-Joy sat front row that the Fall 2022 show this Paris Fashion Week and channelled Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s affinity for Tarot inspired clothing. Dior’s Spring 2021 collection, Le Château du Tarot was entirely inspired by Tarot, as was Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut collection for Dior in 2017. This motif is one that Chiuri takes a lot of inspiration from in her collections and so it was natural for some attendees to appear at the show in looks that came from this inspiration.
Taylor-Joy wore an elaborately beaded shift dress that stopped directly on the knee and paired this intricate look with simplistic accessories, including a simple black hairband in true Beth Harmon style. What I feel truly completed the look was the 60s inspired black coat that the actress has casually strewed over her shoulders and Dior angular cat-eye sunglasses. The all-black accessories combined with the base colour of the dress to allow the colourful beading of the shift dress to really pop and take centre stage. The look was both vintage-inspired and preppy in a way that was truly reminiscent of her character Beth Harmon who had some iconic 50s and 60s inspired outfits on The Queen’s Gambit.
