Anti-Agency Is The Agency For People Too Cool To Be Models
The modeling industry is often the target of diversity activists for its unrealistic representations of women’s bodies and its discriminatory practices. While the goal of a truly diverse fashion space remains elusive, one agency is defying fashion stereotypes and working towards an inclusive future for models all across the world.
The Anti-Agency, which began four years ago in the UK, has launched its first New York Branch and is eager to cast girls with big personalities.
The agency has implemented a novel screening process for its models – namely, not one based on looks. Anti-Agency insists on putting no restriction on physical appearances and instead, focuses on personality.
According to the agency’s site, “Our models aren't just clothes horses; we focus on hand selecting internationally based girls and boys with personality, individual style and talent. The agency is for people who could’ve been models and decided not to, for people who are too cool to be models and people with real lives on the verge of exploding in music, fashion, art, illustration & creative industries etc.”
Lucy Greene and Pandora Lennard launched the agency back in 2013 because they believed brands wanted more than just a pretty face. Anti-Agency casts strong women and men who don’t fit the strict mold of a conventional agency and then celebrates them for who they are.
And the agency’s authenticity is proving irresistible to brands. Their client roster already includes brands like Urban Outfitters, Adidas and Nylon.
Although the industry is still very slow to change, Anti-Agency is breaking down barriers and showing the world the biggest impact can come from simply being yourself. Take a look at some of the stunning models working with the agency below.
