Adidas Joins The Sustainable Fashion Game With The Fully Recyclable FuturecraftLoop Sneaker

Join the revolution.

POSTED BY ROWAN FOY

Sustainability is big in the fashion game right now especially as the world just celebrated Earth Day 2019 and adidas joins the movement with an innovative concept that will drop in 2020: fully recyclable sneakers. That’s right, entirely recyclable. This is a revolution we sneaker nerds need to hop on, hurting our Earth just isn’t cool anymore and the new Futurecraft.Loop sneakers mean we can be both sustainable and stylish AF. Endorsed by Willow Smith, the sneakers are made from one single material as opposed to adidas’ usual 12. Made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) the sneaker boasts the usual components; foam midsole, outer sole, knitted upper, insole, torsion bar, and laces but is so far from any normal sneaker.

We know that plastic is polluting our oceans, every piece of plastic ever made still exists today somewhere in the world but TPU can be melted down and remade into a new pair of sneakers. This is breaking new ground and provides a way for sneaker lovers to show their love for the environment too. Sustainable fashion is not just about the product, the sneakers are lasered together rather than glued, it’s safer for the workers making them. This is an experiment in how the environment and fashion can exist in harmony. So far, it’s paying off.  It’s hard to create an upper with TPU due to its nature but adidas hasn’t shied away from the challenge, we love that. Fashion is about being daring and adidas is daring to break new ground.

Put 2020 in your diaries, the sneaker game will be changing. For now, you can shop adidas’ sneaker range here
