Menswear Brand 8 Cuff Ss16 Is Not Only Great
Provocative prints, uncompromising visuals and unorthodox thoughts. Seoul born and Shanghai raised designer Sue Suh is combining all of it in his menswear brand 8CUFF. The label is targeting sport-lux street wear, where inspiration always comes from a place of social issues. And so is her SS16 collection âThe Great Kim Pt.1 â dedicated to the “Great” North Korea. Sue is using elements of patriotism as a metaphor to Kim’s preposterous dictatorship.
She explains: “We the people of North Korea are proud to have this political system. The world is too unstable, gunshots resonate everywhere. There’s no order out there. We and the Marshal are a big family, and the political and economic situation here is more stable. We citizens take pride lead by the great Kim. He is excellent at protecting the society, educating the next generation, developing new technology, and uniting the big family. We are happy to serve under his order. We cherish every moment for our glorious leader, the great Kim.” Although itâs such a controversial topic Sue managed to transform her inspiration into an absolute aesthetic way: beautiful proportions, eye catching visuals and remarkable features. Canât get enough of 8CUFF!
