Gucci Unveils Breathtaking Spring/Summer 2018 “Utopian Fantasy” Campaign

What an idea.

POSTED BY DEE CUNNING

Gucci has really been raising the bar when it comes to fashion campaigns. Its Star Trek-inspired fall/winter campaign was simply out of this world and its latest offering is nothing less than breathtaking. For Spring/Summer 2018, the house taps Spanish illustrator Ignasi Monreal for a painterly set of images that blend fine art with high fashion.

“Utopian Fantasy” reworks famous artworks across the centuries, including pieces from the Dutch Renaissance and the Pre-Raphaelites – perhaps the most stunning is the take on 'Ophelia' lying peacefully among the lily pads, pearls around her neck. Gucci's new sartorial line-up – from lone handbags to highly styled outfits – is interwoven into the artworks, but never steals the show from the mini narratives that unfold in each image.

Take a look at all of the campaign images above. The collection is set to officially debut in January 2018.
