Lessons In Layering: How To Embrace Spring's Changing Temperatures
Shot by Petra Ford
We welcome the transition from winter to spring. The turning of seasons means we can finally go outside without sprinting back to the safety of central heating so fast that Usain Bolt would be jealous. However, as with any change, the new season can issue a shock to the system, affecting our health (ugh, allergy season) and throwing us for a loop— satirically speaking. Dressing for fickle temps with chilly mornings and toasty afternoons is challenging, if not downright baffling. To battle awkward, in-between weather there is only one solution: layering.
Not only does layering help you dress for the year’s trickiest seasons, it’s also a great opportunity to take some risks with interesting color, material and silhouette combinations. For our latest Fizzytorial, London-based photographer Petra Ford provides some serious inspiration in the art of layering with a street style shoot. Styled by Jade Hennessey, model Donnika rocks a series of layered outfits that push the limits of conventional fashion. Coupling hoodies with leather dresses or beaded tank tops with T-shirts, the daring styles effortlessly juxtapose streetwear with feminine touches for a procession of eccentric, fresh looks.
