Moschino Brings The Dungeon To The Runway In Fetish-Inspired FW18 Show
Kink, c'est chic.
Whether you love or hate Jeremy Scott's Moschino designs, there's no denying that he's a pro when it comes to breaking through fashion boundaries. Happy Meal handbags? Why not? Candy Crush swimming trunks? Fuck it. Transforming Gigi Hadid into a giant bouquet? No sweat. That's why the designer's latest exploit – putting gimps on the runway – should really come as no surprise.
For Moschino's Fall/Winter 2018 Milan Fashion Week menswear show, Jeremy Scott went all-out kitsch-sleeze, with PVC-clad dommes and daddies. There were full-on gimp masks combined with berets, regular dresses or two pieces – perfect for those I-can't-be-arsed-to-wear-makeup days – lots of long leather boots and gloves, as well as chest harnesses, raunchy lingerie items and hairy devil horns.
Evening dresses, military-inspired ensembles and suiting items were also mixed in for an eclectic aesthetic that normalizes, or at least tones down, the fetish pieces for public consumption. Ultimately, like all of Scott's designs, it's tongue-in-cheek fashion designed to inspire a smile.
