Jacquemus: Les Fleurs

Flowers that honor fashion, family and fossil fuels.

POSTED BY MEGAN MATTHEWS

This week, "Jacquemus" announced the creation of a temporary bouquet shop. “I've always been passionate about flowers, and they are a continual source of inspiration for me whilst I am designing my collections,” Simon Porte Jacquemus said. This fashion-inspiration sparked its own floral-idea in the creation of a flower shop in Paris’s northern 18th arrondissement. Jacquemus said, “I have always dreamed of having a Jacquemus flower shop” and this week he’s brought this dream to reality.

Priced at 30€ per bouquet, the flowers are sourced from “Les Fleurs de Paul”— a seasonal family florist business based in the South of France. “Les Fleurs de Paul” aka the Abeille family are working in conjuncture with Jacquemus and the “Yoann & Marco” agency to create the floral forget-me-nots.

Family, locality and the natural world have always been important factors for Jacquemus. Their iconic beach and wheat field-runways are testimony to this, so it seems natural to progress from fashion to floral-house. The bouquets boast ecological benefits also. The bunches of ranunculi come wrapped in Jacquemus fabric from previous collections and make a high-fashion argument for up-cycling, reuse and repurposing.

Since the break-out of the pandemic last year, designers have been finding ways for their creations to transcend the fashion-world and reach as many people as possible. Jacquemus said, in reference to the flower shop, “I also wanted to share something other than clothes during this particular period.” The French government has recently announced partial lockdown measures as the third wave of the coronavirus is said to be on the way. Bouquets are symbols of love, care, and consideration and during this fraught and frightening year, some high-fashion flowers must be a cause to smile.

The bouquets will be on sale for a week, either as click-and-collect or delivery to some specific Paris locations. The shop will be open from 27th March through to April 3rd.
