Akemi Fox Is Ready For Summertime

"See You Soon" is the warm, wistful banger we didn't know we needed.

After last year’s acclaimed Colour You In EP, Akemi Fox has returned with her endearingly upbeat new single “See You Soon,” just in time for the weather to start warming up. The catchy tune will have you calling up all of your loved ones just for the hell of it, and counting down the days until you can see them again.

Supported by a warm guitar riff balanced with Fox’s rich vocals, “See You Soon” has all the appeal of a lazy day at the beach or beside the pool, with a nice, cold drink in hand. Drawing inspiration from names like Beyonce, Erykah Badu, and Frank Ocean, Fox ties together her signature R&B sound with a newfound airiness.

“It’s a song about confessing your love to someone and wanting to see them soon to reconnect to relive all the special moments you feel when with them. The song is described as though being in the sun during summer, and makes anyone listening want to bathe in that warm feeling of being in love,” says Fox on her inspiration for the piece. “It’s a light-hearted song with a catchy rhythm with the message being that you want to see your loved one soon.”

Fox’s aforementioned debut EP solidified her place as one to watch in the up-and-coming alternative-R&B scene. Her innovative combination of sultry lyricism and slightly bedroom-pop, slightly elevated soul has established a league of its own in the realm of UK rising names, and we, for one, cannot wait to see what she has in store next.

“See You Soon” is the lead single off of Fox’s upcoming sophomore EP, set to be released this summer. If this track is any indication, we’ll have it on repeat for endless days in the sun to come.
