The initial Academy Awards of the year were presented at the 14th Governors Awards on Tuesday. Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, and Carol Littleton received Honorary Oscars, while Michelle Satter was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Academy's Board of Governors.
The event, organized by Jennifer Fox and hosted by John Mulaney, took place at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles. The red carpet was graced by a multitude of renowned personalities for this year's festivities, including Margot Robbie, Zac Efron, Barry Keoghan, and numerous others. Now, let's spotlight some of the evening's most stylishly attired individuals.
Margot Robbie, taking a break from her Barbie role, graced the event in a stunning Celine gown. The floor-length black dress featured striking side cutouts and intricate silver embroidery. Completing her ensemble, she adorned a pair of diamond and platinum waterfall earrings from Fred Leighton and stepped out in Manolo Blahnik shoes.
Greta Lee made an appearance in a vibrant red boucle dress from Bottega Veneta. The dress featured distinctive padded shoulder details and was perfectly complemented by a pair of metallic silver pumps, also by Bottega Veneta.
Angela Bassett received an honorary Oscar at the ceremony, dazzling in a sequined mermaid gown crafted by Dolce & Gabbana. The ensemble was paired with a crystal-embroidered belt and exquisite drop earrings.
Another standout among well-dressed celebrities who received significant attention was Rosamund Pike. Her attire marked a clear departure from the one she wore at the Golden Globes. She dazzled in a breathtaking strapless gown with decorative floral elements in a vibrant mixture of red and pink shades. Florence Pugh graced the occasion in a captivating Rodarte dress decorated with sequins. The dress featured a flared waist and a halter neckline elegantly fastened with a floral bow. Taraji P. Henson, another captivating actress, left everyone in awe with her attire. She wore a black velvet gown by Valdrin Sahiti, decorated with three-dimensional gold sparkling leaf details, and complemented the look with accessories by David Webb.
