Why Drink More Water?

See 5 Health Benefits.

POSTED BY LARA HEMP

Most people already know that drinking water in Summer’s heat is important, but getting yourself to drink enough water when the weather cools off is a different story.

On average, the body of an adult human being contains 60% water. Our bodies are constantly losing water, in fact, a typical adult loses about 2-3 liters a day. Not replacing the water can lead to dehydration. We lose water through sweating, breathing, tears and going to the bathroom. Water helps to maintain the balance of the body, it can help with weight loss and energizing the muscles. It helps to keep the skin looking good and to transport waste products in and out of cells. It helps to maintain normal bowel function, it treats headaches and also hangovers.

It is recommended to drink eight, 8-ounce glasses of water per day which equals about 2 liters. If it is easier for you, get a 2-liter jug and make sure it is empty by the end of the day. Try to avoid lemonades and pre-packed juices. Instead, try to concentrate on pure water. The consumption of sugary drinks provide additional energy (kilojoules) to the diet, but no other essential nutrients and can harm your teeth. Even juice contains a lot of sugar and you should drink it in moderation.

If it is hard for you to drink plain water, you can add a squeeze of lemon or mint for better taste.
Sparkling water is just as hydrating as still water, but sparkling water in large quantities can irritate your stomach and can cause high acidity levels in your body. It doesn’t have to be Fiji water or other overpriced bottled water. In most cities, tap water is just fine. If you don’t like the taste of your tap water you can get a filter that removes certain contaminants. If you decide to drink bottled water don’t buy the most expensive one of the most famous brand. Just make sure you drink water which is well mineralized.

Forget expensive creams and treatments; drinking water is one of the best things you can do to keep your skin looking young and glowing all year long.
