Meet The Kawaii Queen Behind Tokyo Womenswear Label Little Sunny Bite

POSTED BY FIZZY STAFF

Yoppy, knows that reality bites! Meet the pink powerhouse behind Tokyo based womenswear label, Little Sunny Bite, who’s been on a one woman mission to rediscover girlhood dreams and connect women everywhere to the kawaii within.

Launching her career in PR, for an LA based brand in 2013, Yoppy swiftly moved on to designing her first Little Sunny Bite collection, in SS14. After shaking up the Shibuya fashion scene with her own blend of sugar rush, her lovingly curated label has built fanbases in LA, New York and London; a growing kawaii kicking army of cutie pies ready to rock, in pinks, prints and illustrated trinkets.

We grabbed Yoppy for a little chat about her loves, loathes and what’s next for her budding brand.

Hey Yoppy! What’s happening in the world of Little Sunny Bite, at the moment?

I’m preparing for our third POPUP STORE at ISETAN department store right now. The items I’m making will be totally exclusive to it, with a photo collection. I featured Rachel Trachtenburg this time. We had a shoot and then I went to New York, which was so much fun! Afterwards, I did a shoot in Seoul with some Korean models, styled in Rachel’s clothes. That was seriously SO cute !!!

Any current obsessions?

I love analogue photography, and I’m currently using a camera I got from my father! I definitely love to travel: I just went to BBK for New Years, and Seoul two weeks ago.

People have described you as “infectiously happy.” What’s your secret?

Wow, thank you, I’m so glad to hear that! I love sharing my world. Recently, I’ve been using male models a lot for shoots. I like to create ‘dream’ couples. Many girls dream of the perfect boyfriend, and it’s not like I’m really trying to sell stuff to boys, but many girls enjoy seeing the mix in my lookbooks. I think my dream couples are good for my little sunny chicks hahaha. 😉

What are your dislikes (or bites!)?

Staying at home all day during weekends!

You’ve collaborated with designers like Lazy Oaf, and companies such as Disney. What’s the best thing about teaming up, and are you working with anyone right now?

I love to work with foreign designers. They have so many different ideas all the time. I’m actually launching a Muppets collection for SS16. Please stay tuned!
