5 Sneakerheads Every Hypebae Should Follow On Instagram

POSTED BY SOFIE RIISE NORS

Back in the day when Carrie Bradshaw was the style icon educating the mortals in the world of Manolo Blahnik and Roberto Cavalli, the stiletto was the ultimate sexy accessory for your feet. A feminine foot was a beautiful foot, but nowadays, the gals have ditched the uncomfortable misery of heels and replaced them with soles. The craze over sneakers is everlasting both for the dudes and dudesses, still, it seems that the sneaker industry always is a little too male-friendly when it comes to size and style.

As a hypebae with hunger for sneaker fashion, you probably don't have the time nor awake hours a day to keep an eye on everything that happens when it happens in shoe-land, but good news: There are social-media-herions who do. We selected 5 Instagram accounts with a serious girly sneaker fever that will help you keep up-to-date with the latest hype and goods!

Sneaker slang heads up:
Beaters [bee-ter s]
Shoe in your collection that you allow to get beat up. You wear it A LOT. No matter how many kicks you have, you likely wear these in the rain or when out at the club when you're twisted heavy. Pizza 3am, heavy.
Bred’s [bred s]
Often refers to the color combination of black and red, usually associated with Jordans.
Coke Whites [kohk] [wahyt s]
Whiter than white sneakers. Always have some coke whites in your closet for mystery.
Crepes [kreyps]
Another word for sneakers.
Eyyy, yo, dude's got some superfresh crepes on. Don’t hurt your boyfriend's feelings by telling him you’re getting some crepes without him.
Crispy [kris-pee]
When something is very, very clean.

4. @avanope

Employer: Helmut Lang

Followers: 153k

About: On her website, Ava considers herself as a "writer/ kinda photographer/ object maker" — and we call her a sneaker genius. Other than managing a smaller Instagram empire of 153k followers, she is the social/digital editor in the house of Helmut Lang. This account is a bit more artsy than street: engaging another type of sneakerhead with a more creative and playful approach to the scene.

Sneaker slang heads up:
Deadstock [ded- stok]
When a shoe has never been worn, aka brand-new. It has been in the box and stayed in the box since you bought it. Never tried on, factory-laced.
Double up [duhb-uh l] [uhp]
When a pair is so dope that if you’re lucky enough, you buy more than one pair.
Fire [fahyuh r]
When something is hot or really fucking good.
Those flyknits are super FIRE on ya feet, kid!
Highs [hahy s]
High-tops. Top of the shoe extends over the ankle for more ankle support, like jammin’ on the court.
Hypebeast [hahyp-beest]
Someone that only follows hype. There is more buzz/hype around some sneakers than others. A hypebeast only pays attention to these kinds of releases because they’re “cooler,” which in turn often makes you a fuccboi.
Icy sole [ahy-see] [sohl]
When the soles of the sneaker are slightly see-through, aka icy. Icy soles are super fresh.
