Opening Ceremony Celebrates The Beauty Of Diversity With Summer 2017 Collection
This brand is once again using fashion to share a political message.
Following their politically charged “Action” capsule collection, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have now unveiled an immigrant travel-influenced summer 2017 line for Opening Ceremony.
Inspired by the beauty of diversity, the designers studied images of people who entered America, from all different cultures, who wore clothes ranging from evocations of celebration to protection. As a result, the new range sees a mix of elements exploring different nationalities. Croatian embroidery is featured on lightweight, flouncy dresses, while Japanese kimono sleeves decorate reversible souvenir bomber jackets. The entire line-up is overflowing with patterns, ranging from Baltic folklore prints to American gingham.
Elsewhere in the range, there is a focus on coordinating sets inspired by people who once traveled in their finest, perfectly curated looks.
For OC’s Lim and Leon, fashion appears to be a growing platform for resistance and solidarity in the current turbulent political environment. View OC’s entire new collection below and shop all the looks here.
