Nike Steps Into The Chunky Game With Women's M2K Tekno
Tekno tekno tekno tek...oh.
It's a shame these sneaks look so god damn hip hop because they're perfectly named for the techno rave. Nike, give us all-black and then we can talk, just sayin'.
Of course, we're taking about the brand-new women's M2K Tekno, Nike's foray into the sneaker world's recent obsession with gigantic Mickey Mouse shoes (don't get us wrong, we love Mickey). Riffing on the dad sneaker trend while staying true to the brand's aesthetic, the chunky shoe was first seen in John Elliott’s Fall/Winter 2018 NYFW show. And the silhouette undoubtedly draws inspiration from Nike's iconic Air Monarch.
This 'Phantom' Tekno features a Sail/Light Gray upper with more layers than your little sister's makeup routine, including two swooshes on the side. The heel grabs attention with bright orange plastic detailing and matching swooshes on the insoles. All of this sits atop a tonal midsole and a gray and black outsole.
The 'Phantom' drops May 19th at Nike for $100, with more Tekno colorways arriving throughout the spring and summer,
Next up, we shoot FIZZY GIRL Mona Marielle.
