Why Minimalist Streetwear Doesn't Mean Boring

In a market place full of bold trends, graphic tees and tricked out sneaks, competition for whose outfit can be the most extra is running rampant. For those who like a whole lot of oooh! in their ‘fits, minimalism can seem like a decorative word for “boring.” But not so fast. Minimalism has a sort of Monet effect. It might look simple upon first glance, but there’s a world to look at under closer inspection.

Case in point: our latest Fizzytorial shot by Dutch fashion photographer Nancy Schoenmakers. Styled by Rianne Boon, the series of photos illustrates the styling power of keeping your streetwear low-key. From clever cuts and solid hues to lovely construction and clean lines, this minimal fashion doesn’t give it all away immediately, which—pro tip—makes the looks appear a lot more luxe. Complementing the fashion’s "less is more" vibe, hair/makeup artist Elise Langenhuisen focused on the model Yunna’s skin rather than creating outlandish makeup looks. The overall effect will inspire you to apply this minimalist ethos into your own life. Peep the series of photos below.
