Music Is The Answer: Rave The Planet in Berlin Brings The Beat To The Heat

150 BPM Techno Demonstration

POSTED BY AL BROWNE

A little army of Hi-Vis donned clean-up volunteers is scattered across a very hot Tiergarten Park in Berlin this Sunday morning in the aftermath of the second installment of the RAVE THE PLANET shuttling between Brandenburger Tor and Großer Stern.

Registered as a political demonstration and run as a non-profit organization it was year two for the successor of the now (in)famous Love Parade Raves that defined techno culture and beyond in the 90s and early noughties.

The Love Parade under its old name was discontinued in 2010, when 21 people suffocated and 652 others were injured in a crowd disaster in the western city of Duisburg, where the event had rebased after the rights were sold to a fitness studio chain in 2005.

Ever since the reinvention in 2020 founded by Dr.Motte, financing, business structures and safety issues have remained contentious to the point that fundraising and finalizing paramedic contracts were pending until days prior to the actual event.

Under the Motto, Music is the Answer, and with a visibly less commercial feel than the Love Parade Franchise, the RTP 2023 saw the numerous floats returning to the original message to raise awareness for techno music culture backed up by political demands through the sound systems.

We sent our photographer into 30 degrees and the 200.000+ high-spirited crowd for the good, the badass, and the at least 150bpm. Pics below!
