MoMA’s Just Launched A Collection Of Sex Toys and Menstrual Cups

And honestly, we’re here for it.

Big shout out for the influential art giant, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, who has just announced the launch of their ‘Design Innovations For Women Collection’ at their design store in Soho. A capsule collection focuses on representing the best new designs for women in the areas of menstruation, pregnancy, motherhood and menopause. Whilst eliminating stigma around the female body, the collection is designed to empower women ‘with an open and innovative spirit through well-designed solutions to real world problems’.

The topic of female sexuality and wellness is a conversation that is avoided far too often, says Chay Costello, the Associate Director of Merchandising at MoMA. She stated that “we are seeking to surface and share the best new examples of designs for women” and in the process create a more open conversation around womanhood. The collection items includes eco-friendly and chemical-free period products like the DivaCup and reusable menstrual pads.  There are also a multitude of sex toys and gadgets, the Elvie Breast Pumps, and personal lubricant systems designed for menopausal women.

We look forward seeing to seeing more design companies embracing the challenge of making ‘female products’ more attractive as well as functional. Let’s face it, it’s been a long time coming!

The collection will be available to visit in Soho at the MoMA design store, as well as on their website from August 19th and will run through to September 2020.
