Larry Clark Shoots Converse X JW Anderson 'Simply_Complex' Campaign

Beachy vibes.

POSTED BY DEE CUNNING

Following their Pitti Uomo runway debut back in 2017, JW Anderson and Converse continue to blur the lines between high fashion and street style in their latest collaborative footwear capsule, 'Simply_Complex'. With a heavy focus on material, JW Anderson reconstructs his favorite classic silhouettes, the Thunderbolt and Chuck 70, in premium denim and suede.

The Thunderbolt arrives in both raw indigo denim and suede with goat leather lining, with an asymmetrical approach to the design to give wearers an individualized look. The Chuck 70, inspired by the traditional brown shoe, is playfully elevated. As JW Anderson puts it, “we approached it as a sneaker first but introduced detailed elements and the suede execution that make it a sort of curious version of Chuck, ultimately constructing the silhouette as a statement shoe.” Scaled-down micro-eyelets add to the refined look. The Chuck 70 XX takes the premium feel even further with a suede outer and a leather inner for a comfortable lived-in feeling.

Tying the whole collection together with the young, fun feeling he does best, Kids director Larry Clark shot the raw campaign on a beach in Marseille, France. Check out the shots below.

The Converse x JW Anderson collection drops March 2 at converse.com, j-w-anderson.com and global JW Anderson stores.

Next up, Nike's OG streak continues with 1991's Air Huarache "Purple Punch."
