Helmut Lang, one of fashion’s OG minimalist labels, is gearing up for another year of transformation. Helmut Lang’s CEO Andrew Rosen just named Isabella Burley to the newly created position of editor in residence at the brand. Burley is currently the editor and chief at Dazed magazine, and according to a press release, in her Helmut Lang role, she’ll "bring her editorial eye and network of creative talent to influence all departments of the company."

For her first move, Burley recruited Hood By Air designer Shayne Oliver to create a special collection to be revealed in September 2017. The collection will include men’s and women’s clothing, as well as accessories.

Since its launch in the early 2010s, Hood By Air has become one of the most anticipated shows at New York Fashion Week, and the cult-favorite label is famous for giving streetwear a high fashion gloss and creating androgynous designs. Oliver was scheduled to unveil Hood By Air’s Fall 2017 collection in Paris earlier this month but ultimately canceled the show. Hood By Air representative assured the label’s fans Oliver was sitting the show out to focus on his new ventures, "Shayne is currently focusing his time on the special project with Helmut Lang. As a result, HBA will be continued but is transitioning to accommodate this. We will be releasing more information soon.”

Helmut Lang’s collaboration with Hood By Air is speculated to be the first of many efforts to revitalize the brand. It is believed Burley will continue to bring on fresh new designers for special capsule collections in seasons to come. Stay tuned for the latest updates as we find out more about Helmut Lang x Hood By Air.
