Ground [Zer]0 SS19 In Bed With Hong Kong Gangsters
Percy Lau has also been recruited.
It's the early 90's you step out of Hong Kong airport in an oversized beige brown blazer, over sized jeans and a slogan white tee with briefcase in one hand and a gold Casio watch on the other. You take off your Percy Lau sunglasses. You wait for your cab to take you into the Chinese character neon lights of the red light district. Hong Kong air is muggy. The 14k Triad awaits you for business.
That feeling is what Ground [Zer] 0 designers took and warped into their tailored SS19 collection. Drawing inspiration from the Hong Kong gangster movies and the red light district the collection is gender neutral. Hong Kong is a cultural melting pot of people from tourists to the business people, the gangsters to the locals; dressed up or down roaming around Hong Kong.
The clothing is distressed, sewn in with pop culture references like the gold dragon belts to give this collection a not so basic edge. Most garments offer a 2 in 1 giving the wearer options to experiment and create.
The look book is a Hong Kong story within itself with appearances from Percy Lau's distorted eye wear frame for a pinch of edge. A modern take on an ancient Hong Kong.
