Manchester Shines on Chanel's Global Stage with Métiers d'Art Showcase

A global fashion spectacle in the Northern Quarter.

Manchester is having its grand moment on the international stage of high fashion. Unconventionally chic, and clearly “a-la-mode” enough for the fashion house Chanel, Manchester is at the center of attention for the Métiers d’Art on December 7, showcasing the latest collection of creative director Virginie Viard.

„Masters of Arts” will bring the French timeless legacy into a city known for its predominantly industrial aesthetic, creating an eccentric contrast. This distinction of styles and history increasingly suggests the coming of age of the Mancunian international high fashion scene.

The Chanel runway show usually takes place outside the regular schedules choosing every year a different location and honoring the in-house Chanel craftsmanship. After last year’s Florence show, the house opted for the edgy Mancunian streets, reaffirming the hidden gems of this city, which is slowly becoming a beacon not only for U.K. media but for arts and crafts.

It could have been predicted that the U.K. would be a top choice, after the entirely sold-out Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto exhibition at the V&A in London. Furthermore, this will be the first Chanel show taking place in England since 2012, making a strong impact on Manchester’s economy through an incredible investment. It’s clear that the revival of Manchester has brought not only powerful hospitality giants such as Soho House but is making its breakthrough in high-end fashion, as the show awaits to host VIPs, fashionistas, and celebs from across the world.

Could this be Chanel’s edgy affair in the industrial oasis? This year’s Metiers d’Art will take place in the authentically stylish Northern Quarter area, on Thomas Street, which has been covered and transformed, ready to host the city’s big night.

A-list celebrities such as Kate Moss, and movie star Kirsten Stewart have already been spotted. The latter has already been a spokesperson for Chanel and featured in campaigns for the powerhouse. Nevertheless, a fresh face in the latest Chanel beauty campaigns is actor Timothée Chalamet, the house’s latest ambassador, and needless to say online sensation for his style evolution throughout the years.

The house of Chanel keeps the fashion crowd on their toes and is clearly making a formidable impact in the fashion worldwide scene, not only for succeeding in remaining private and independent but also for bringing into the spotlight emerging hubs of culture

Undoubtedly, Chanel’s inclusive perspective on the geo-locations of their catwalks indicates the ability of the brand to stay both timeless and relevant through cultural diversity in today’s expeditious fashion scene.
