Astrid Andersen Remembers Buffalo-Era London For Fall/Winter 2018
All about '80s youth.
For her Fall/Winter 2018 collection, Astrid Andersen remembers Buffalo-era London and its fundamental influence on her own design aesthetic. For those who missed the '80s boat, it's almost impossible to mention '80s youth culture without referencing the radical, disruptive style movement which cast its diverse models from the streets and moved to a party beat.
“A mash-up between the decadent and the rave,” the collection combines a rich, extravagant feel with the boldness and confidence of the street. The without-rules designs incorporate eclectic fabrics, from colorful silk jacquard to technical puffer fabrications to unexpected tweeds. There are both edgy streetwear looks and truly sophisticated ensembles – but comfort is at the center of everything.
We love the gleaming gold puffer jackets, the flowy wide-leg trousers and the bold yellow sneakers. And it's kind of impossible not to love the cowboy hats.
